It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Garry Moore, our Georgia D.A.R.E. Facilitator. After retiring from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Garry devoted decades to facilitating D.A.R.E. Officer Training Courses, educating and mentoring future D.A.R.E. Officers across Georgia. During his 68 years of life, Garry leaves behind a lasting legacy of service, leadership, and dedication to youth and law enforcement.
Through his incredible leadership, countless Georgia students were taught how to make wise decisions using the D.A.R.E. Decision Making Model. There are many D.A.R.E. Officers who were trained under Mr. Moore’s guidance.
My personal D.A.R.E. journey began 25 years ago under Garry’s leadership during a D.A.R.E. Officer Training in Macon. That experience was instrumental in paving my future in law enforcement. I will forever remember his well-known quote, “Failure to prepare is preparing to fail.” I am truly thankful for the opportunity to have known Mr. Garry Moore, and I believe we will meet again one day.

What We Do
This year millions of schoolchildren around the world will benefit from D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), the highly acclaimed program that gives kids the skills they need to avoid involvement in drugs, gangs, and violence. D.A.R.E. was founded in 1983 and has proven so successful that it has been implemented in thousands of schools throughout the United States and many other countries.
D.A.R.E. is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons that teaches children from kindergarten through 12th grade how to resist peer pressure and live productive drug and violence-free lives.
