January 4th- January 16th
The Georgia D.A.R.E. Training Center will host a D.A.R.E. Officer Training Seminar on January 4th – January 16th, 2026. Upon completion of the training, an officer will be certified to teach the D.A.R.E. “Keepin’ It Real” elementary and middle school curriculum.
If you are interested in sending an officer to the training, please contact Darlene at [email protected], or call 706-508-8938

The Georgia D.A.R.E. Training Center would like to formally announce the appointment of its new facilitator.
Following the recent loss of our long-term leader, Garry Moore, the Training Center has been working diligently to navigate this transition while honoring the legacy he built. Garry left very big shoes to fill, and his impact on D.A.R.E., our officers, and the children we serve will not be forgotten.
After careful consideration, the decision has been made to appoint Garry’s long-time friend, colleague, and D.A.R.E. mentor, Susan Sweat, to carry forward his mission and leadership.
Susan brings decades of experience and dedication to this role:
- D.A.R.E. Officer since 1997
- D.A.R.E. Mentor since 1999
- Trained in all D.A.R.E. disciplines, including Middle School, High School, and Parent Programs
- D.A.R.E. Facilitator Training in 2022
Her academic accomplishments further reflect her commitment to excellence:
- Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Forensics (Honors)
- Master of Arts in Humanities (Magna Cum Laude)
- Master of Arts in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Emergency Management (Summa Cum Laude)
Susan has expressed a deep commitment to continuing Garry’s work, upholding the high standards expected by both the State of Georgia and D.A.R.E. America, and leading the Training Center with integrity and purpose. We are confident that under Susan’s leadership, the Georgia D.A.R.E. Training Center will continue to grow, inspire, and positively impact communities across the state.
Please join us in supporting Susan Sweat as she steps forward into this important role.

What We Do
This year millions of schoolchildren around the world will benefit from D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), the highly acclaimed program that gives kids the skills they need to avoid involvement in drugs, gangs, and violence. D.A.R.E. was founded in 1983 and has proven so successful that it has been implemented in thousands of schools throughout the United States and many other countries.
D.A.R.E. is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons that teaches children from kindergarten through 12th grade how to resist peer pressure and live productive drug and violence-free lives.
